Steve joined HomeTeam in November, 2009, as General counsel and Secretary bringing over 30 years of legal and regulatory expertise to the company including all matters associated with multi-state mortgage lending, securities law, employment law, corporate governance, contract formation and review, management of outside counsel in litigation, and providing legal advice to all matters associated with the asset-backed mortgage securitization process.
During the course of his career, Steve acted as senior counsel or general counsel to myriad types and sizes of financial institutions from bank holding companies such as Mid-American Bancorp and Barnett Bank , consumer finance companies such as National Auto Finance Company, and mortgage lending operations such as EquiCredit Corporation.
In addition to providing legal support and counsel to all areas of management of these companies, Steve established from the ground up, several legal departments and affiliated insurance companies. He also served as director of human resources and secretary both to several institutions and its board of directors.
Steve is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts in History (B.A.), Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Juris Doctor (J.D.). His is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and a registrant with the House Counsel Division of the Florida Bar Association.
